spotted: holst + lee jewelry 02.29.2012

As you can imagine, we instantly fell head over heels for this collection when we clicked on our shop bop email yesterday!!!! We’re suckers for bright colors (including neon, obviously), stripes and bold statements, so this mixed media, tribal-inspired jewelry line by Holst + Lee is something we only could have imagined in our dreams–but it’s real!! And, not to mention these are all designed by two gals (we heart other  two-person-design-teams!). Now go get yourselves some!

art & design: mid-century album & book covers 02.28.2012

We’re always suckers for mid-century homes and furniture, but the graphic design of that era is also at the top of our list so we fell head over heels when we stumbled upon New Documents, an etsy shop that specializes in mid-20th century modern album and book covers! Thinking one of these might be a nice addition to a gallery wall, what do you think?

    >Thanks for the link and kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the shop — New Documents is definitely a labor of love for me. I have pieces framed and hung in my home and studio. They look great and provide unlimited inspiration!

collar & cuff: oscars 02.27.2012

Having not seen A SINGLE movie this year, (that’s right, having a baby throws a wrench in the whole going-to-the-theatre thing) this year’s Academy Awards is all about the dresses for me. We thought it would be fun to pick our Oscar winners for best dressed. Full disclosure: we picked the same winner and second place dresses, but that’s no fun so we fudged the results a bit. Can you guess which was our true Oscar? I think it’s safe to say we’d both gladly take either one for our closets.

trend watch: flower power 02.24.2012

Holy flowers! I’ll be honest: I’m not totally sure how I feel about this particular trend, but it’s out there with a vengeance. For me, it’s a look I’d use with restraint. Maybe a blazer (I do love #6) with a printed tee and denim? What do you think? Are you feeling flowery or avoiding this one altogether?

    >Just ordered the Citizens denim yesterday!!! Fingers crossed they look as good on me as they do on screen :)

    >I'm feelin' flowery! I love #6, and would possibly do floral denim if the cut was fantastic (and the print too!). I wear a lot of print…it's hard to find a solid in my closet…so it's hard for me to purchase/invest in a printed item that's an accessory or 3rd piece. I think it's perfect for those who wear a lot of solids, to spice up their look!

print & pattern: DVF bedding 02.23.2012

As lovers of fashion AND pattern designers, it goes without saying that we have been huge fans of Diane von Furstenberg for a long time. Her eye-catching,  bold, colorful prints that were made so famous on her iconic wrap-dresses have been such an inspiration to us – so you can imagine our excitement when DVF entered the world of home accessories! All of these fab prints are duvet covers from her bedding line! Kinda makes you want to spruce up the bedroom, doesn’t it?
{And yes, we can only dream that one day we can be sharing our own line of bedding with you all!!)
