let’s hear it for the boys: j. press neckties 04.26.2012

I just stumbled across this site, J.Press. Maybe the guys out there are familiar? Anyway, I was totally drawn in by the fun color palettes and patterns of these ties (a picked a few of my faves above). Makes me kinda want to wear a coat and tie to work.

So, if “kid” weren’t in the title, wouldn’t you be thinking that you actually want these things for yourself? I know I did.  Do you guys remember when we posted about this book? Well, this is just the tiniest sampling of the products in Todd Oldham’s Kid Made Modern line for Target hitting the stores on May 20th! Seriously, those colored pencils are perfection, and those stripey gems in the middle?, those are CRAYONS! So, so cool! Target will introduce more than 50 Kid Made Modern art supplies and kits, all designed and tested by Oldham himself – AND,  all are artfully packaged in recyclable boxes (many of which double as display cases) and will all be priced under $20. We are really feeling like all future kid gift ideas are solved!

baby & kids: 1st birthday 04.23.2012

I’m excited to share some images of my sweet little guy’s first birthday party a few weeks ago!! It was such a perfect day with gorgeous summery weather. You don’t get to be outside for a March birthday every year in Kansas, that’s for sure. We didn’t really have a theme for his celebration, per se. I just thought, for this first year, a true “classic” look would be fun with bright balloons, confetti and a rainbow of colors. Emmett was a little slow to warm up to the whole cake thing, but did finally have some fun tearing up his cupcake and clapping with frosting all over his hands. He really didn’t consume much of though which is fine with me because I kind of love that he’s a mostly “sugar-free” guy up ’til this point. I think he had a pretty good time and seemed to understand somewhat that he was in the limelight (although I’m sure he didn’t really know what all the fuss was about). It’s been such an amazing year with our little man and we were so happy to celebrate him on his big day!
