Black Lives Matter

A letter from Carrie & Morgan:

When we started Ampersand, our vision was to create a place that encouraged connection and radiated optimism. We strive to bring positivity into the world and include ALL kinds of people in our community, but we know we can do better.

As we’ve watched the events of the past few weeks unfold in sadness and anger, we’ve reflected on ways we can help more, be more proactive and be better allies in the fight for equality of all people. A big part of the puzzle is recognizing that life is simply easier for us because of the color or our skin. We’ve taken that fact for granted, and for that we’re truly sorry. We will commit ourselves to acknowledging our privilege and channeling it to good. We vow to keep the momentum. We will keep protesting, signing petitions and educating ourselves and our children.

We also want to do something to honor the memories of Black lives that have been tragically and unjustly taken. For the next two weeks, we will give 100% of the profits from our online shop to Black Lives Matter and the NAACP.

BLACK LIVES MATTER. We stand against racial injustice and police brutality. We're here to listen, learn and act. We hope you all will join us.

When we identify where our privilege intersects with somebody else's oppression,
we'll find our opportunities to make real change.
