8 Days a Week: thank you to Margaret Schemmel 03.05.2014

We were so fortunate to have Margaret Schemmel on our sewing squad! She took on some complex pieces: a little hexagon ball toy and a crib skirt, plus our calendar pillow! Thank you doesn’t even cut it! She was so generous with her time and carefully thought through issues that making a crib skirt presents (how high is the crib mattress? Do you want pleats or not?) She just really had it together before we did on the crib skirt, and we are so grateful because the end results were just beautiful. We want to have a bunch of those little hexagon balls to give to our kiddos and as gifts for all new babies! If any of you want one, too, you can refer to this tutorial. This is originally a pin cushion, but we thought it made such a cute ball, too. Margaret is a graphic designer and used Illustrator to make her own pattern pieces as a guide. For the crib skirt, she made up her own design, using a crib mattress as a guide.
The pillow was piece quilted using different sections from the various fabrics. We love how she used our calendar grid and made a precious keepsake out of it. We love how this design can work for any milestone (wedding anniversary, baby’s birthdate, the options are endless..) Thank you, Margaret, so much for sharing your creativity, resourcefulness and sewing talent! We were so lucky to get to collaborate with you! We really hope to team up again in the future!

This is so cute! I’d like to just transplant all of this cuteness into my little girls nursery!

Babikins Magazine feature 01.21.2014

Have you guys seen Babiekins Magazine yet?  We’re pretty much in love. It’s the perfect magazine for a modern mom!!!! The photography is so refreshingly current, the editorial is always worth the read and us adults could learn a few tips from the kid fashion features!  We got a hold of a couple of images from the current issue….it only makes us want to see MORE! are we right?
So needless to say, we were pretty stoked to spy our neon yellow ampersand print in a nursery feature in print issue #3! First of all, incredible job at framing the ampersand print and secondly, we are just flattered to have a print amongst all this cool styling! We sort of want this nursery to be our own room! PS- it’s the nursery of Danni Remender, who happens to be the creative director at Fawn Shoppe, so there’s not surprise that it’s perfection! We’ll be heading out to pick up a physical copy tomorrow to see the rest of this perfect little room! Thanks for the feature, Babiekins!
If you want to pick one up for yourself, the major stores are Target, Barnes and Noble, Books A Million, Amazon.com, the largest bookstore Canada- Chapters and of course Babiekins website! If you find something else you love in there, share it with us and @babiekinsmag with #Babiekinsmagprint3!

We say, go bold or go home! We rounded up a few colorful pieces to add just that touch of fun that you’re looking for!
