Getting crafty: Day of the week lunch bags 06.12.2012

Happy Tuesday, Everyone! A visit from Laura Parke is making our Tuesday morning sunnier! Check out her latest brilliant project idea (we were pretty much dying over this one):
Who wouldn’t love day of the week lunch bags? It’s a clever take on the old school name doodle my mom would create for me in my younger days and it’s super easy to create yourself.
materials: paper lunch bags, reverse printed image from a laser printer or copier, colorless blender marker (found at art supply stores)

Step 1: Cut out each image you want on your lunch bag. The trimming doesn’t have to be perfect as only the ink will transfer to the paper sack.

Step 2: Line up your image, face down, onto the bag in the place you want it to transfer.

Step 3: Using the colorless blender, color over the image to get it wet, making sure to hold your paper in place while doing so. You’ll want to cover the ink several times to ensure a good transfer.

Step 4: Keeping the image flat on the bag, take any flat surface (like a debit card) and burnish the image thoroughly. During this process, you might want to lift a corner of the image to make sure it is transferring successfully. If it is not, just color over it again and burnish it with more pressure. Continue this process until you are satisfied with the ink transfer.

Step 5: Continue this process on all of the bags until you have all of your images transferred. These are dry to the touch immediately. The great thing about these bags is that the image can be personalized or customized to say anything you want. The possibilities are endless!
