Morgan's bedroom update with Minted.com
Hi everyone. It's Morgan here today and I'm talking all about a little update I just did at home. My bedroom was in such bad need of an update that I can't even bring myself to share a before picture here. I have spent some time designing other rooms in the house, but really, my husband and I had done almost nothing to our master bedroom until now. The walls were even the same beige paint color from the previous owner of our home. Nothing was hanging on the wall. It was the room that had just gotten overlooked. Needless to say, I was THRILLED to partner with minted.com for some new art that would set the tone for the whole room!
With the craziness of having two boys, ages 6 and 2, I really wanted our master bedroom to be a place just for my husband and I. A place of calm. A place to relax. A room with a bit of sophistication. Never mind that we end up with a child in our bed more nights than not. But still....I can always dream!
The photographic, watercolor and acrylic art that we chose truly set the tone for the room! And minted.com is now offering float-mounting and matting for their art prints which really makes them feel that much more special.
So, when I got started, I knew one thing, I wanted a huge-scale sunset or sunrise photograph to go above the bed as the main peace. I can't think of anything more relaxing and happy! From there, the color palette started to form. The brass metallic in the hardware and lamp add sophistication and the hints of black and natural wood keep the room from going to feminine. Check out the below image and links for details!
Clockwise from top left: 1 connection no.3 by kelly ventura (float mounted) // 2 Fringe Accent Pillow (no longer available, click for similar) // 3 Looped Ink Blot pillow // 4 Martha's Horizon by Whitney Deal (float mounted) // 5 Acacia Vase by Convivial Production found at Coveted Home // 6 Yellow Connection by Lisa Sundin (with white matte) // 7 side table by Oh Joy for Target // 8 ceramic plate by terrafirma ceramics found at Golden & Pine. As you'll see, in addition to the minted.com art, I have mixed in some pieces from my favorite local shops, artists and friends. I had no specific theme in mind going into this little bedroom update, but I just tend to believe that sometimes, if you collect a bunch of things you truly love and that make you happy, somehow, it all just ends up working out in a room! The macrame is a piece by my friend Jen Walker who just happens to be able to whip these up in her spare time - sorry I have no shop to link to!
So, even though I was going for a special retreat space for my husband and I, I'll just admit now that these photos capture the crazy truth :)
Last, but definitely not least, this stunning piece called Arm in Arm by artist Jennifer Daily! It's total perfection float mounted in a nice, white square frame!
