"my kansas city" on mimi + meg

I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon showing my friend, Meg, around Kansas City for a fun feature on her blog, Mimi + Meg called "My Kansas City." You may remember Morgan's "My Kansas City" from earlier this month. It was great to catch up with Meg while she was in town (she's from Kansas City also), and get some lunch at a spot we both love. Check out her post for a few of my favorite places to shop and eat in KC.

A few more places we didn't have time to hit, but that I love in Kansas City: Blue Koi in Westport which has amazing noodles and dumplings and (right across the street), Saigon 39, which is Vietnamese. I could drink their peanut sauce, it's that good. Some other all-around favorites are the Rieger Hotel in the Crossroads. It is just excellent food, presented beautifully and the atmosphere is wonderful. After dinner at the Rieger, it's always fun to head downstairs to Manifesto. The cocktails are inspired and, again, the atmosphere is great. One of my favorites that I'm most drawn to in the cooler months is Potpie in Westport. It is such a cozy space and the food is hearty and comforting. They have great pot pies, of course, but everything else is great, too. I love Happy Gillisfor the charming decor and the food alike. Their chicken salad sandwiches are my go-to there. So good. For burgers, Blanc Burger and Bottles is so great. The truffle fries are amazing and every burger is pretty much perfect. They also have tons of great beers and sodas (hence the "bottles" in the title).

A place that is both, a place I like to eat and a place I like to shop is Christopher Elbow Chocolates. Everything there is beautiful and so delicious as well. I love to pick them up as gifts. For shopping spots, I love to find unique gifts at Bon Bon Atelier. They also have a great selection of fabric and notions in case you're feeling crafty. One of my other favorites is Hammerpress, a wonderful letterpress studio/ shop in the Crossroads. As Morgan mentioned in her post, Standard Style and Baldwin Denim are amazing for clothing. For children, Zoom on the Plaza is full of fun toys and Lauren Alexandra has darling clothes and gifts.

Thanks, Meg, so much for letting me take over your blog! It was so good to see you! xo, Carrie
